Meet Our Team
All of our team at the Riding Centre are qualified horse / pony Ride Leaders, with experienced coaches and instructors on board too. Not only do we like to think we know almost everything there is to know about horses, but our team are also very dedicated and passionate about what they do. Some even keep their own horses here too.
Our Riding Centre team are hard working with a strong focus on horse and rider safety, whilst ensuring the more advanced rider gains a thirst for excitement and enjoyment too. It’s never a dull day at Crieff Hydro Riding Centre. Meet the team:
Liz has been heading up the Riding Centre for over 30 years. With instructional, coaching and riding centre management qualifications from the British Horse Society, Equestrian Tourism and Trekking & Riding Society of Scotland, Liz is well qualified to offer advice on horse-riding, horse care and tips on competition riding. Liz is also an external trainer and examiner for a number of equestrian bodies – she’s the ideal person to ask for advice if you’re looking to start or top up your equestrian qualifications.
Originally from Ireland, Joanne’s work with horses spans an impressive 18 years across a variety of yards, from polo to breaking yards and riding schools. She’s a qualified BHSAI instructor and has a real passion for teaching. She enjoys coaching riders of all ages and abilities and loves to see smiling faces at the end of lessons when riders achieve their goals! Joanne enjoys taking part in all riding disciplines, but dressage is her favourite. Joanne’s always looking for ways to further her knowledge, and likes to participate in clinics and training days herself.
Heather’s been working at Crieff Hydro Riding Centre for over 4 years. She holds her Senior Ride Leader, SVQ Level 2 Horse Care and Management and UKCC Level 1 qualifications and is currently working towards her SVQ Level 3 and UKCC Level 2. Heather’s experience includes working on various different types of yards, including livery, show-jumping and riding schools. Her favourite discipline is show-jumping and she loves to compete regularly. She’s passionate about working with and schooling the young horses and ponies on the yard, making them well-schooled mounts for Riding Centre clients (or even new owners) to enjoy.
Fiona has her Ride Leader qualification and SVQ level 2. As well as escorting hacks and teaching at the yard, Fiona enjoys the practical training sessions as she works towards her next exam.
Karen holds her Ride Leader qualification and is currently working towards her SVQ level 2. She’s been passionate about horses since her parents had a yard and trekking centre when she was a child. Most of Karen’s adult life working has been spent in corporate world, riding recreationally. However, since re-training to work with horses, Karen’s been part of the Riding Centre team for a number of years on a part-time basis and loves her new career! Outside of work, Karen rides as often as she can, and loves nothing more than going for a hack around our beautiful Perthshire countryside.
